Update: Spring!!!!

Little Man's flowers have started to come up! Here are some pictures of them!

He added some rocks that he got from the train tracks.

The black dirt is from the dirt that his worm was in. He wanted his worm to live with his flowers!

Painting rocks

When you have nothing better to do..... Paint Rocks! Little Man loves to paint or "pake" as he calls it so I thought that it would be cute to get him to paint some of the little rocks that we have in our front yard.

First we gathered some small rocks. I decided to use the bottom of one those dog igloo things for us to paint on so we didn't make a mess.

Little Man looking down at the rocks and bringing me paint.

Little Man likes to paint himself more than anything else!

Once they are done, throw them back with the rest of the rocks and you have a truly unique garden!

DIY ABC Book

I'm working on ABC's with Little Man right now so I decided to make him an ABC book with objects and people that are familiar to him, so maybe he will relate to them.

Great picture I know! Lol... but you get the idea!

I used this picture as the cover of his book. So we can practice singing the alphabet together without having to flip through pages.

I used D is for Daddy, B is for Ball Pit, F is for Football, and I used family members for letters that they fit into, like Gigi, Nanna and Papaw.

Like his I spy book, I just put these pictures into a small photo album. You could also laminate them and use binder rings to hold them together. Little Man is rough so he needed an actual album so his book didn't get tore up :(

Spring !!!

Spring is finally here!

This year I've decided to let Little Man plant something..... but what do boys plant? I didn't know whether to get him flowers, vegetables, fruit or what.

Someone gave us a little table thing (I have no idea what it is lol) it had a little top thing on it but Little Man is a bit too old for it, so I decided to turn it into a planter for him!

Anyway, back to the plant type issue. I finally came to terms with the fact that boys can plant flowers too! So I got a dollar out of Little Mans piggy bank and let him pick out some seeds, he picked some flowers called Sweet William. They look like this once they bloom:

So today he helped me put dirt into his planter and we planted his seeds.

I made him a little watering bottle until I can think of something better to make him for it. I just got a regular plastic bottle and cut a few slits into the top with a knife so he can shake it over the planter and water his flowers.

And his bottle fits perfectly into his planter!

He loved helping me with this! I just hope that the early excitement doesn't wear off and I get stuck taking care of flowers all summer!

Egg carton matching

I've seen this done many times and it's a lot of fun!

We took an egg carton and I let Little Man paint it. Once it was dry I used paint swatches from a paint store that matched plastic easter eggs that we had around the house, I cut little circles out and glued them into the bottom of each of the egg holes.

Always mixing his colors

I think he enjoyed painting himself better than the carton!

This was the hardest part for me because I can't cut a perfect circle to save my life! And I get frustrated when things don't turn out well... but in the end I finally told myself it was ok!

His finished painting!

Once it is dry you place the matching easter eggs in the right spots and let your little one have at it. Little Man loves playing with this, and even though he doesn't match the colors yet it is a great way to introduce him to colors and matching!

Five Little Speckled Frogs

Five little speckled frogs
Sitting on a speckled log
Eating some most delicious bugs, Yum! Yum!
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Then there were four speckled frogs,
Ribbit Ribbit!
Keep counting down until there are no more speckled frogs.

We sing a lot around here and lately Little Man wants to hear this one. So I decided to make him a craft for it. I traced five frogs onto a piece of paper and let Little Man color it.

While he was doing that I found a piece of light blue construction paper and cut part of the top off, this is for the frogs to sit in at the bottom to make it look like they "jumped" into the water, so you want to make it like a little pocket.. You glue the very bottom and the edges on to the bottom of the blue construction paper. and make sure your frogs will fit into it. (Ours didn't fit so we made two and put them together)

Then you cut a piece of brown paper to go across the middle of the blue page. We didn't have brown so we just colored brown on white paper. Then you glue it just like you did the blue at the bottom, Edges and very bottom. Once you are done you can sit your frogs in and sing away!!

We drew "bugs" for our frogs to eat (everyone thought they were birds though lol!)

This only one page, there are two other frogs on the page next to it.
