Log Cabins

Today we decided to try and make log cabins. We filled up a baby wipe box full of small twigs and then came inside and searched for boxes. Sissy used an oatmeal box, Little Princess used a poptart box, and Little Man used a poptart mini crisps box. I didn't think that the glue would stick to the slick boxes so we taped construction paper around the sides and the tops of the boxes.

Little Man picked out the color of his construction paper and then he decided he was done. This craft is really more geared towards older children. Mommy finished his while he watched Thomas.

After we covered the box with construction paper, We cut out yellow windows to make it look like someones inside (Little Princess insisted that we all do this). Then we used a pen and made a doorway so we would know where to put our sticks, and we glued the window pieces on.

Once everything is in place you can start gluing your sticks on. We started with our windows and doors and then started working around those.

This is as far as we got today. This one is Little Man's (even though he didn't help lol) I didn't realize that this project would take so long just putting the construction paper on! But we all had fun with it and will work on them some more tomorrow.

This one is Sissy's. She was having a hard time with the glue so she didn't very much done today.

And of course, Little Princess had to have hers pink. She dove right in on hers, she even made a porch!

We haven't added the roofs yet, we are going to wait until we have finished the bottom half of the house before we start the roof. I don't want the kids getting too overwhelmed with their cabins.
