Pipe Cleaner "Sorting"

Little Man loves to put things in containers, take them out and put them all in again (like most toddlers!). So I decided to make something that he can play with where he can do that on his own. He has one of those shape sorters but he isn't strong enough to pull the ball apart to get the shapes out :(

I started by finding a container that was semi-tall. I used a stuffing can. I decided to make it multi-colored but you can decorate it anyway that you want.

After I was done gluing the paper on I taped the bottom of it up so Little Man wouldn't be tempted to rip the paper off. Once the glue was dry I used a stencil to write Little Man's name on it (In case you haven't noticed I LOVE writing his name on his stuff lol).

I was going to color it in but decided to leave it like that. Then I cut some pipe cleaners to fit into the container without being bent.

Then I used a hole puncher to cut 6 holes in the lid of the container (I did 6 because I only used 6 different color pipe cleaners). Then to help him with his colors I punched a hole in the same 6 colors in construction paper (so he could match the colors) then I cut a circle around the hole punch and glued them onto the lid around the original holes I made.

Little Man had a lot of fun with this toy.

But after a while he just wanted to run off with the pipe cleaners and hide them from mommy.
